The books

It opens on the Concourse: "Manifest City did not have a heartbeat." "It had a frequency."

In Chapter 1 Renee, an Echo Tuner, runs from the city's Correction beside a being of light named Patrice; the rest of the book follows her, a streamer (Mekhi), an engineer (R.S.), a director (Dr. Mills), a keeper (Grace) and an event designer (Simone) as each finds the same seam from a different side.

It opens with a prologue in Renee's voice that names the group at the center of the story: "We are six people who can hear the other hum."

R.S. and Renee descend through the sublevels to the Archive and the ANCHOR-0 laboratory, and the Den's testimony is broadcast across the city.
